Human Rights Information

On April 12, 2010, the case of AD and OD v United Kingdom took place. The case was over the well-being of the child, OD, and whether or not his mother, AD, was suited to take care of him. Medical examinations of OD shortly after birth showed that he had many fractured ribs that rose a lot of suspicions about the mother. The child was taken out of her custody and placed into foster care. The mother claimed that he had a condition that caused him to have weak bones and the government was violating her rights under Article 8.
In the end, the mother was reunited with her child and gained back her custody rights with the apologies of the government for not thoroughly examining the child before taking him out of his home.

Environmental Information

The United Kingdom continues to reduce greenhouse gas emission. By 2005 the government was able to reduce the amount of industrial and commercial waste that is disposed of in landfill sites. They also recycled or composted at least 25% or household waste.

Decision Statement

The main reason why I chose the United Kingdom as a good place to live is because I feel that it is closely related to the United States. There are many benefits to living in the US as well as the UK, which is why I think that the UK is a great place to move to. The UK has many different incredible landscapes and views around the UK. However, the UK is not only one country. It is made up of Scotland, Whales and Great Britain. With all of these places to choose from, there is so many different cultures and customs in the UK. Also, the UK has very good climate and many great foods to eat. Overall the UK is a very good place to move to because of its diverse background and interesting cites to be seen when being in anywhere in the United Kingdom.
